"Not Secure" Warning When Clicking a Link in a Band Pencil Email?

This issue is related to how our transactional email provider tracks when a link is clicked in one of the emails sent from Band Pencil.

Is It Safe?

Yes — it's completely safe to proceed.

The final destination, e.g. the Client Portal and all key pages on bandpencil.com — are fully protected with HTTPS encryption. You can safely click “Continue to site” if prompted.

What's Happening?

When you click a link in an email from us (for example, to access your Client Portal on Band Pencil), the link is briefly redirected through our email provider’s tracking system. This helps us monitor important events like whether a message was delivered successfully or a link was clicked.

Occasionally, this tracking redirect may happen over a non-secure (HTTP) connection for a split second, depending on the browser or email client. As a result, some browsers may display a warning like: This site is not secure or The connection is not private.

What We're Doing About It

We're actively working with our email provider to support fully secure link tracking via HTTPS redirects on all links in the near future. This will eliminate the warning entirely for all users.

In the Meantime...

  • You can trust the links in our emails.
  • If in doubt, you can always go directly to bandpencil.com and log in from there.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact us.
